Allyship

The program was started in 2015 by two teachers who lived in the community of Salluit. As non-Indigenous allies, ​we ensure that we center the program around Inuit voices and Inuit leadership by co-creating programming with Inuit elders, community members, and the youth involved in the program. We are continually working towards active allyship by listening, learning, and acting. We focus on building relationships with Inuit community members, learning about oppression and privilege, learning about the history of colonization, the history of the land we live on, and listening to Indigenous peoples and cultures, We understand that we are settlers and have created our own Reconciliation Action Plan to take an active role towards decolonization.
